Molecular Dynamics simulations of concentrated aqueous electrolyte solutions

چکیده
Transport properties of concentrated electrolytes have been analyzed using classical molecular dynamics simulations with the algorithms and parameters typical of simulations describing complex electrokinetic phenomena. The electrical conductivity and transport numbers of electrolytes containing monovalent (KCl), divalent (MgCl2), a mixture of both (KCl + MgCl2), and trivalent (LaCl3) cations have been obtained from simulations of the electrolytes in electric fields of different magnitude. The results obtained for different simulation parameters have been discussed and compared with experimental measurements of our own and from the literature. The electroosmotic flow of water molecules induced by the ionic current in the different cases has been calculated and interpreted with the help of the hydration properties extracted from the simulations.

Removal of Heavy Metal Particles by LTJ, ANA, SVR, BEC and MER zeolites particles: A Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study
In present study, molecular dynamics simulation of Cadmium (II), Lead (II) and Copper (II) removal from aqueous electrolyte solutions using the ion-exchange process with the zeolite particles was done. The results showed that, most of the particles had the highest affinity of ion exchanging with Lead (II) and the lowest affinity with Copper (II). The calculated mean ion-exchange ratios showed t...
متن کاملAn Investigation of the Structure of Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions by Statistical Geometry
Statistical geometry is employed for a quantitative description of deviations from regular octahedrality of water around monovalent ions and from regular tetrahedrality of solvent water around water molecules. For these deviations a new criterion is presented by taking into account octahedral and tetrahedral spatial symmetry groups. A geometrical definition of structure making and structure bre...
متن کاملAccurate description of calcium solvation in concentrated aqueous solutions.
Calcium is one of the biologically most important ions; however, its accurate description by classical molecular dynamics simulations is complicated by strong electrostatic and polarization interactions with surroundings due to its divalent nature. Here, we explore the recently suggested approach for effectively accounting for polarization effects via ionic charge rescaling and develop a new an...

متن کاملIonic self-diffusion in concentrated aqueous electrolyte solutions.
A self-consistent microscopic theory is developed to understand the anomalously weak concentration dependence of ionic self-diffusion coefficient D(ion) in electrolyte solutions. The self-consistent equations are solved by using the mean spherical approximation expressions of the static pair correlation functions for unequal sizes. The results are in excellent agreement both with the known expe...
